Germany: The end of the state of emergency in Germany does not mean an end to restrictions

The epidemic state of emergency in Germany should end at the end of November. However, the government plans to maintain restrictions. Germans want a “Freedom Day”!

The lifting of the epidemic of the state of emergency in Germany was the news that the inhabitants of Germany had been waiting for for 19 months.

The epidemic state of emergency in Germany is set to expire at the end of November

However, this does not mean lifting the restrictions. BILD found a document sent by the federal minister of health to the leaders of a possible future government: the SPD, the Greens and the FDP.

The letter gave advice on how the restrictions can be maintained by the Länder and municipalities without the need to extend the epidemic of the state of emergency.

Jens Spahn proposed that the Länder should be able to proceed as before, adopting requirements for protective masks and restricting access for unvaccinated people. Another alternative is to adopt an amendment to the law on protection against infections, so that restrictions are possible even without an “epidemic situation”.

According to Bild, this will mean living with a mask and a covid pass The federal states could thus permanently restrict freedoms. Because the coronavirus will never go away completely.

According to some experts and politicians, there can be only one solution: full return to freedom, as in Denmark and Great Britain. There has been no breakdown in the healthcare system in these countries. Germany also needs Freedom Day!

A proposal to announce a “Freedom Day” on March 30 and an emphasis on vaccinating children over 5 years of age

The chairman of the health committee of the Bundestag, Erwin Rüddel (CDU), has ruled out the announcement of a “Freedom Day” in the current calendar year . “I don’t think the proposal will be helpful in the current situation, shortly before a possible fourth wave,” Rüddel told RND.

According to the head of the health committee, Germany should go through the “difficult epidemiological” autumn and winter, adhering to the 2G rule, which allows vaccinated and convalescent people to participate in social life. The politician believes that March 2022 is a realistic date for a return to normalcy in Germany. “Until then, the unvaccinated have to consider what is more important to them,” he added.

Lifting most of the restrictions only in the middle of next year

According to the head of the Standing Committee on Immunisation (Stiko), Thomas Mertens, most restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic in Germany may not be lifted until mid-2022.
