Coronavirus death toll continues to rise in Germany

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Germany has risen to 42,288, with a total of 253 deaths reported as on Friday, a report by the German disease and epidemic control center, Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

Cases rose by 5,780 in Germany compared with the previous day while the death toll climbed by 55.

The report shows that coronavirus has affected all the16 federal states.

The incidence of COVID-19 is highest in Hamburg, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria.

From the report it emerges that most cases are between 35 and 59 years old. Men are more often affected than woman.

The virus seems to be more dangerous to the older people. In fact according to the report, 90% of deaths occurred in persons aged 70 years or older.

Germany authorities on 3rd March banned gatherings of more than 2 persons (with the exception of families and household members) in all states. Restaurants and businesses concerned with body care were closed.
