Police attacked in Frankfurt, Germany, said his police officers were attacked on Saturday and Sunday night by a crowd of 500 to 800 people for no apparent reason.

It all started around 10:45 p.m., when people started throwing stones, bottles and eggs at a passing police car.

Very quickly, the clashes became violent and a crowd of 500 to 800 people “who did not comply with the protection measures against coronavirus” began to attack the main headquarters of the Police with eggs, stones and bottles, the institution explained in a statement Sunday.

Nine people were arrested, but eight were released for lack of evidence. This is the second night of clashes with groups that appear to “spontaneously unite against the police,” said Frankfurt police chief Gerhard Bereswil, adding that such conduct could not be tolerated.
