At least 74% of the infected are aged between 35 and 59 years old. Men are more often affected than women.

The virus continues to hit and kill mainly old people. The report from the Robert Koch Institute shows that 87% of deaths occurred in persons aged 70 years or older.

German authorities have been implementing tougher measures to curb the spread of the virus. Since March 23/2020, gatherings of more than 2 persons (with the exception of families and household members) have been banned throughout the country. Restaurants and businesses concerned with body care have also been closed.

From today March 31/03/2020, the entire countries of France and Spain have been declared as international risk areas.

Most Germans believe it is right to retain the lockdown measures until after Easter. More than half of all Germans even want stricter measures implanted to fight the spread of coronavirus. The same view is also held by the Germany’s federal government officials who don’t think the restrictions should be eased soon. “We need all of those measures, undiminished”, Berlinspectator.com quoted the government’s spokesman Steffen Seibert to have said.
