Buses, trams, and other transport services run more frequently during the festival, making it easy for beer lovers to reach the event. Festival-goers can choose between buses, trams, the metro, and city trains. So, how do you get to Oktoberfest?
Getting to Oktoberfest: Subway and City Rail Guide
The first public transport option to consider is the metro. According to the Oktoberfest Munich website, you can reach Theresienwiese directly via the U4 (green) and U5 (yellow) lines from Odeonsplatz, Karlsplatz/Stachus, and the main station. The U3 (orange) and U6 (blue) metro lines also take you from Odeonsplatz, Marienplatz, or Sendlinger Tor to Goetheplatz or Poccistraße. From there, it’s just a short walk to the eastern and southern entrances of Oktoberfest.

Another option is the S-Bahn. The S1 to S8 lines will take you to Hackerbrücke, which is two minutes from the main station, five minutes from Marienplatz, and ten minutes from the eastern station. From Hackerbrücke, it’s about a ten-minute walk to the main entrance of Oktoberfest.

Several bus lines can take you to Theresienwiese. For example, MetroBus line 53 stops at Schwanthalerhöhe, while MetroBus lines 58/68 stop at Georg-Hirth-Platz, Beethovenplatz, or Goetheplatz. MetroBus line 62 stops at Hans-Fischer-Straße, Poccistraße, or Herzog-Ernst-Platz, and bus line 134 also stops at Schwanthalerhöhe.

You can also take a tram to the event. Tram lines 18, 19, and 20 stop at Holzapfelstraße or Hermann-Lingg-Straße. With so many transport options available, everyone can choose the one that suits them best.
