Cameroonian musician Nelson Lomude: Why it’s important to embrace the Spirit of Ubuntu

New inspiring song titled “Ubuntu” by Nelson Lomude, a young musician based in Cameroon, is challenging people to rediscover and embrace the community spirit.

Ubuntu (I Am Because We Are), which is an African philosophy that places emphasis on ‘being self through others’, underscores the fact that all people are connected, and that wellbeing and progress of an individual depend on the wellbeing and progress of all the other members of the society.

In his new song, Nelson Lomude says: “Tell me, tell me brother, what are you doing to save your life today? Tell me what you are doing to save the world?”

He stresses that the world will be a better a place if we care for one another, and if we love and share all resources.

The song “Ubuntu” has been well received by fans in all parts of the world and has been endorsed by several African personalities including Patrick Lumumba, one the most famous Kenyan lawyers.

In an exclusive interview with AfroNews, Lomude said he composed the song to underscore the importance of loving and sharing. “Our purpose is not centred around what we can do for ourselves, but around what we can do for others,” Lomude said.

He holds that “if everything you do is just for yourself, then you actually are doing nothing.”

To live an ideal life is to practice Ubuntu which Lomude describes as “the Divine Law of Nature.”

With Ubuntu, Lomude said, “everyone is given the opportunity to feel the humanness in them and discover life’s true meaning.“

Nelson Lomude stresses that the world will be a better a place if we  care for one another, and if we love and share all resourcesHis music and writings are aimed at driving everyone and especially Africans worldwide towards their common purpose and destiny, the reason he refers to himself as an Organic Musician/Writer – getting his people back into their natural paradigm – the organic African paradigm.
