Nollywood suffers another loss as veteran actress Folake Aremu, popularly known as Orisabunmi dies at the age of 60. President of the Theatre Arts And Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) Bolaji Amusan, confirmed she died on Tuesday night, Guardian reported. However the cause of death was not revealed.
Born on October 10th 1960, in Ilu Ola, Kwara state, she attended Ilu Ola primary school and commercial college. She never attended university but worked as a teacher in Kware State where she was lucky to be discovered by her ex husband (Nollywood veteran) Chief Jimoh Aliu.
Folake Aremu was well known from the 80s for her roles as a priestess, pacifist, or the good witch in movies. She has played some iconic roles like ‘Asabi’ in “Oluwerimagboojo”, and the priestess in “Ayanmo Eda”.

As Folake Aremu dies, her death comes four months after her ex-husband Nollywood veteran, Chief Jimoh Aliu who died while undergoing treatment at Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital in Ado-Ekiti on 17th September 2020.
Filmmaker Tunde Ola-Yusuf, took to his social media page to mourn the veteran star. He said: ‘’ADIEU. She left without a Good bye. The death of Mrs. Folake Aremu (ORISABUNMI) has been announced. Really a shock on everyone Iya Oosa, may God rest her soul among the righteous. R.I.P’’
Fans have since poured out heartfelt messages of condolences to the family and the Nollywood industry.
