Kenyan singer Alisha Popat woos judges during blind performance on ‘The Voice’ Germany

Kenyan singer-songwriter, Alisha Popat nabbed a spot on popular German show ‘The Voice’ after she wooed the judges during her blind performance earning a four-chair turn during her audition.

The signer performed Chris Isaak’s ‘Wicked Game’ that had the judges loving her mastery of voice and her delivery, pressing all their ‘I want you‘ buzzers.

The star wrote on her Instagram page, ‘Never in my wildest dreams could I believe that I would compete on a platform like this and get FOUR chair turns! I went in there with no expectations, just hope! I worked so hard for this opportunity and I am simply over the moon to be part of it! ‘

The Voice is an international reality television singing competition franchise based on the reality singing competition, The Voice of Holland. The reality series has since birthed many other versions including The Voice, America and The Voice Germany.

The show’s format features five stages of competition: producers’ auditions, blind auditions, battle rounds, knockouts (since 2012), and live performance shows.

Alisha is a singer/songwriter currently based in Germany and has been in the creative industry for more than a decade earning many accolades from various creative avenues.

Alisha is not the first Kenyan to perform at the show with Kenyan singer Eugene also earning himself a four-chair turn during his performance of Kenyan trio Hart the Band – ‘Uliza Kiatu’

Alisha Popat is best known for her rendition of ‘we found love‘ by Rihanna in a kiswahili version with famous violinist Lindsey Stirling.
