Kenyan Women in Germany e.V. has been nominated for the Best African Association in Germany Award (2021) at the AFRONEWS – Ortel Mobile African Community in Germany Awards (2021).
Sponsored by Ortel Mobile, Germany’s leading prepaid sim cards provider for people with a migration background, the AFRONEWS – Ortel Mobile African Community in Germany Awards celebrate and recognise the outstanding achievements of Africans in different fields in Germany.
DETAILS OF THE NOMINEE
Kenyan Women in Germany e.V. (KWIG) is a community-based women empowerment association founded in May 2020.
Founded and led by Jacky Achieng’ Kuhn, KWIG’s mission is to support the social and economic integration, promotion and empowerment of Kenyan women in Germany through contextual support.
KWIG’s vision is to offer Kenyan women in Germany a place where they can preserve their family unity and join new communities.
Some of the activities of the association include organising exhibitions, lectures and vocational training.
The Kenyan Women in Germany e.V. organises intercultural activities, development projects and humanitarian projects and promotes partnerships between Germans and Kenyans who live both here in Germany and in Kenya.
The association has a project fighting against and supporting victims of domestic violence. It also carries out campaigns against racism.
One of the most striking initiatives of KWIG is Bonga Table, which is an interactive media project that brings people together to discuss issues affecting black communities and find possible solutions for a better future.
KWIG also has a Leadership Mentorship program to inspire and motivate women to have self-confidence, be more productive, more effective and more agile in their work positions.
Winners of the AFRONEWS – Ortel Mobile African Community in Germany Awards (2021) will be announced at the Awards Gala Night sponsored by Ortel Mobile on 23rd October 2021 from 18:00 to 23:00 at Freigut Bootshaus GmbH, Freigut-Frankfurt, Eiserner Steg (Sachsenhäuser Mainufer), 60594 Frankfurt am Main.
