Cameroonian Alassa Mfouapon sues German state

Alassa Mfouapon is suing the German state of Baden-Württemberg for police operations in Leo Ellwangen. The man acts as a mouth piece for refugees in Germany. Rote Fahne said that after a raid in Ellwangen LEA he filed a lawsuit against the state of Baden-Württemberg.

It has been almost two years since he did this and the court was silent, but now his case will be heard in the administrative court in Suttgart in February.

Why did Alassa Mfouapon sue the German state?

During a police operation with hundreds in may 2018 in the LEA (State Reception Centre) Ellwangen, the deportation of a refugee from Togo was enforced.

This was preceded a few nights earlier by a spontaneous peaceful solidarity action by the other residents against the deportation of their Togolese flatmate.

Police reported they had sustained injuries in the process of the protest only for a report to prove this was false information. A few days after this incident, Alassa Mfouapon and other refugees organised a non-violent protest demonstration in Ellwangen, under the slogan “A lot has been said about us. Now let’s talk. We are refugees – not criminals “.

As a result, Alassa Mfouapon was deported to Italy under brutal circumstances in June 2018. From there, on September 18, 2018, he filed a lawsuit against the state of Baden-Württemberg because of the brutal police operation in Ellwangen, as well as against the traumatic circumstances of his deportation. This lawsuit is also directed against the state government’s tightened deportation policy…

This lawsuit represents the whole democratic refugee movement and Alassa Mfouapon says: “If these police officers had measured the effects of this brutal attack, they would not have done it. At that time, the refugees lost all hope of protection of their right to asylum and human rights. That’s why I filed a lawsuit against the state of Baden-Württemberg. “

The trial of Alassa Mfouapon against the state of Baden-Württemberg will take place on February 18, 10 a.m., in the Stuttgart Administrative Court, Augustenstr. 5, 1st floor, room 5.
