Actor Idris Elba has revealed that he has tested positive for coronavirus – Covid-19.
The 47 year old actor received his test results on Monday morning.
In a video he posted to Twitter, the “Luther” star said he was feeling fine and didn’t have any symptoms.
He said he had been isolated since finding out he was exposed to the virus last Friday.
“Stay home people and be pragmatic,” he said. “I will keep you updated on how I’m doing. No panic.”
Elba’s wife, Sabrina Dhowre, appeared beside him in the video. Elba said the wife has not been tested but is “doing OK.”
This morning I tested positive for Covid 19. I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing 👊🏾👊🏾 No panic. pic.twitter.com/Lg7HVMZglZ

He appealed to all to practice social distancing and be diligent about hand washing.
“Transparency is probably the best thing for this right now. If you’re feeling ill, or you feel like you should be tested, or if you’ve been exposed, do something about it.”
Elba added: “Look we live in a divided world right now…but now is a time for solidarity. Now is a time for thinking about each other. There are so many people whose lives have been affected.”
Elba is the latest star to be diagnosed with the virus. Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson announced last week they had tested positive.
