Germany has pledged €5.5m to the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund, German Mission in Nigeria has said.
The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Nigeria announced on its Twitter handle, @OCHANigeria, that the donation by Germany would help vulnerable persons in Nigeria have access to potable water, food and shelter amidst the crisis.
The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control yesterday confirmed 10 new cases of people infected with coronavirus in the country. Seven cases were recorded in Lagos while three in Abuja.

So far a total of 184 people have been infected by the virus in Nigeria.
“Ten new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria; seven in Lagos and three in the FCT.
“As at 08:00pm 2nd April, there are 184 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Twenty have been discharged with two deaths,” the NCDC tweeted.
Last Sunday President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria ordered a lockdown of the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos and Ogun states to curb the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Mr Buhari said the lockdown which begins today at 11pm will be for an initial period of 14 days.
“All citizens in these areas are to stay in their homes. Travel to or from other states should be postponed. All businesses and offices within these locations should be fully closed during this period,” Mr Buhari said. “The governors of Lagos and Ogun states as well as the Minister of the FCT have been notified. Furthermore, heads of security and intelligence agencies have also been briefed. We will use this containment period to identify, trace and isolate all individuals that have come into contact with confirmed cases. We will ensure the treatment of confirmed cases while restricting further spread to other states.”
Mr Buhari said all flights to the 3 states will be suspended. Only means vehicle supplying foodstuffs and medical supplies will be allowed to travel in strict compliance to safety regulations.
