Many Africans come to Europe with desires of having a good life but end up in pains and agonies. These challenges push them into making decisions that put them in conflict with the countries they love so much.
A new movie exploring these issues is set for release in Germany in September.
“Zero Deal” directed by Evans Osigwe and produced by Prince Ogugua Igwe, a Nigerian actor, scriptwriter and producer based in Germany shows the real life experience of Africans living in Europe.
The movie tells several stories of Africans whose lives have taken completely different directions from what they had in mind before coming to Europe.
“Zero Deal” is a movie based on true life stories of foreigners living in Europe.
For instance, it tells the story of Fred, a young African footballer who comes to Europe hoping to find a better life here without knowing that he’ll have to go through complicated procedures to become a professional footballer.
The struggle to get documents to stay in Europe makes him loose his most desired football career, and can‘t put his life together again due to frustration.
It also tells the story of Chucks, an African graduate who sells his father’s house and other properties in order to come to Europe thinking he’ll find a better life here. This causes the untimely death of his father.
Once here, the difficulties Chucks faces while looking for the work permit push him into drug dealing for survival only to be arrested and sent to prison.
By the time he comes out of prison, he discovers that all the money he sent to his uncle to invest for him in Africa was squandered.
“Zero Deal” also tells the story of Jane, a young African girl who comes to Europe after being deceived by travelling agents that she’ll easily live a good life here. The agents take so much money from her in order to process her visa.
But once she arrives in Europe, things fall apart. Unable to find a job, Jane ends up becoming a prostitute and fraudster. These experiences transform her life tremendously, bringing out her exceptional human qualities.
The movie also tells the story of Tamara, a German woman who suffers loneliness after divorcing her husband. She ends up marrying an African, thinking she is doing him a favour. Then something goes wrong.
“Zero Deal” was shot in Nigeria and Germany. It is a movie revolving around passion, love, hatred, violence, betrayal, etc.
The movie features Prince Ogugua Igwe as the main character playing Fred.
It also features several Nollywood actors and actresses based in Nigeria and different European countries.
Famous Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo plays Tina; Nollywood actress Chinenye Uyanna plays Cynthia; UK based Nollywood actress Roseline Ajose plays Nancy; famous Nollywood actress Chinwe Owoh plays Ukachi; Great Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu plays Uncle Amadi; Germany based Nollywood actor Mpiece plays Chucks while the Spain-based Nollywood actress Jennifer Omole plays Jane in the movie.
The movie also features German actor Nico Alesi who plays the Boss and German actress Sonna Ampai who plays Tamara.
“Zero Deal” will be premiered in Freiburg, Germany on 24th September 2016.
