German based Nigerian artist Vivian Timothy holds awesome exhibition at Stadt Königsbrunn – PHOTOS

Vivian Timothy, an award winning Nigerian artist in Germany is holding a solo exhibition at the Kulturbüro der Stadt Königsbrunn.

Titled “Back to My Roots”, the exhibition features fantastic and colourful paintings by this self-taught genius artist.

Several German and Nigerian dignitaries graced the official launch of the exhibition on 1st August 2016.

Special guests at the event included Frau Barbara Jaser, Deputy Mayor of Stadt Königsbrunn; Joseph Oyi, Head of the Consular and Immigration, Nigerian Embassy, Berlin; Engr. Oge Ozofor, President of Nigerian German Coalition for Human Development (NGCHD) who is also President of lgbo Community Augsburg; Ambassador Kennedy C. Onyeke, Funds/Media Director NGCHD and President of lgbo Community Munich; Dr Augustine Okeke, Secretary General – Elders Forum Ndi lgbo Germany and Project Director NGCHD.

Vivian-Timothy22The guests were entertained by Alex Acquah and his African Musical Group KUKURUDU accompanied by dancer Sara.

Mr Oyi thanked Stadt Königsbrunn for hosting the exhibition promoting Nigerian cultures.

He also thanked Ms Timothy for her efforts to promote Nigerian cultures with dignity.

In an interview with Afronews.de, Ms Timothy said her paintings are inspired by things affecting her life, especially the current situation of Nigeria.

Vivian-Timothy10Having grown up in Nigeria when the country was stable, Ms Timothy said they really enjoyed liberty and peaceful coexistence between people from different religious and ethnic backgrounds. “Things were really good and we had wonderful celebrations. It’s no more the same,” she said.

Ms Timothy uses her paintings to project the beauty of Africa and Africans, especially the continent’s landscapes and ceremonies.

The “Back to My Roots” exhibition by Vivian Timothy will be on at the Kulturbüro der Stadt Königsbrunn until 31st August, from Monday to Friday; 8am-12:30pm. Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 15pm-18pm.
