Agitu Ideo Gudeta, Ethiopian refugee and symbol of integration raped killed in Italy

Agitu Ideo Gudeta, an Ethiopian refugee has been killed in Frassilongo in the northern Italian region of Trentino.

The lady was raped before being killed by a Ghanaian employee on her farm. The man, identified as Adams Suleimani, reportedly killed Agitu with a hammer after raping her.

He reportedly killed her for failing to pay his salary.

Agitu came to Italy as a refugee in 2010 and has been praised as a refugee success story.

She became a symbol of integration after successfully managing to create a farm where she raised goats for her cheese business.

The 42 year old Ethiopian lady established her farm called La Capra Felice (The Happy Goat) on a previously abandoned land.

She sought refuge in Italy after her participation in protests against “land-grabbing” angered local authorities, Al Jazeera reported.

In 2018, Agitu received racially motivated threats. In fact when news of her killing broke yesterday, many thought she was a victim of racial violence.
