Who is Chris Black?
Christopher Mendy alias Chris Black is the Best African Events Organiser 2022.
He is an unperturbed, gleaming and reverential young man, whose creativity commands nothing other than knowledge and esteem.
Born and raised in the Gambia, Chris Black gained international recognition as the founder of GMB Promotions. Some of the big stars he organised for shows include Jamaican Everton Blender, Alex Marley, Eric Smith and Sizla. He works with DJ’s and promoters and continues breaking outstanding records in promoting African music both in Germany and in the Gambia.
Chris Black also initiated the Beauty and Talent program called The Two Sides of Beauty, an annual event which promotes artistes and young people.
He is an industrious, affable and dynamic Gambian International Booking Agent and Songwriter. He is also the manager to famous artistes such as Musa Fila Jobarteh and Dr Olugander.
He has been organising International Business Entertainment Training Workshops. Chris Black has trained and sponsored dozens of Gambian musicians, dancers, public speakers, instrument players, DJs and actors/actresses.
He is the promoter who for the first time brought the performance of the Morgan Heritage, twice to the Gambia. Chris Black has dedicated his life to improving the lives of others and he finds this a very appealing call.

Christopher Mendy alias Chris Black was born on 24th July 1992 at the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital in Banjul, and he was raised at Brikama, Kombo Central District, West Coast Region (WCR) -The Gambia.
He attended St Therese’s Lower and Upper Basic School from 1998-2004 and Ndowâs Comprehensive Senior Secondary School from 2010 to 2013. He then proceeded to study Mass Media at the West African Shattered College from 2013-2014.
He trained as an Entrepreneur at Yep Africa and attended music programs and workshops with the Gambia Red Cross Society (GRCS) as a Senior Promoter while in high school. He was seen as the most outstanding student of his time in business management and the creative industry, having empowered Gambian artistes and set the stage for Gambian music promotions as the CEO of GMB Promotions.
Africans who excelled in different fields in Germany were recognised and celebrated at the AFRONEWS – Ortel Mobile African Community in Germany Awards Gala Night in Eschborn on 22nd October 2022.
