African Community Awards: African Community in Germany Awards 2022 Christopher Mendy has been nominated for the Best African Events Organiser in Germany Award at the AFRONEWS – Ortel Mobile African Community in Germany Awards 2022.

Who is Chris Black?

Christopher Mendy alias Chris Black was born on 24th July 1992 at the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital in Banjul, and he was raised at Brikama, Kombo Central District, West Coast Region (WCR) -The Gambia.

He attended St Therese’s Lower and Upper Basic School from 1998-2004 and Ndowâs Comprehensive Senior Secondary School from 2010 to 2013. He then proceeded to study Mass Media at the West African Shattered College from 2013-2014.

Christopher Mendy is an unperturbed, gleaming and reverential young man, whose creativity command nothing than knowledge and esteem. If wisdom speaks human language and performing arts was a human being; Christopher Mendy would have been the voice and person.

He trained as an Entrepreneur at Yep Africa and attended music programs and workshops with the Gambia Red Cross Society (GRCS) as a Senior Promoter while in high school. He was seen as the most outstanding student of his time in business management and the creative industry, having empowered Gambian artistes and set the stage for Gambian music promotions as the CEO of GMB Promotions.

After his educational sojourn in the Gambia; he gained international recognition as the founder of GMB Promotions, when he debunked access on all music in Europe and brought the performance of renowned international artistes to the Gambia. Some of the big stars he organised their shows include Jamaican Everton Blender, Alex Marley, Eric Smith and Sizla. He works with DJ’s and promoters and continues breaking outstanding records in the promoting African music.

Chris Black also initiated an annual Beauty and Talent program called The Two Sides of Beauty, an annual jig, which promotes artistes and young people.

He is an industrious, affable and dynamic Gambian International Booking Agent and Songwriter. He is also the manager to famous artistes such as Musa Fila Jobarteh and Dr Olugander.

Chris Black has explored Africa sufficiently well in musical tour and performances with Jamaican Turbulence and Jah Vinci.

He is the only Gambian Promoter and Entrepreneur, who has been organizing International Business Entertainment Training Workshops. He has trained and sponsored dozens of Gambian musicians, dancers, public speakers, instrument players, DJ’s and actors/actresses.

He is the promoter who for the first time brought the performance of the Morgan Heritage, twice to the Gambia.

In September 2010, following his graduation from secondary school, Chris Black was named the best International Promoter and Entrepreneur of the year, having worked with an American company known as MBE Inc, and brought the live performance of Jamaican Dup Poet and Musician, Mutabaruka in the Gambia.

Chris Black has dedicated his life to improving the lives of others and he finds this a very appealing call.

The African Community in Germany Awards Gala Night 2022

All winners will be announced and recognised at the African Community in Germany Awards Gala Night to be held on 22nd October 2022 from 5:30 PM at Bürgerzentrum Niederhöchstadt, Montgeronplatz 1, 65760 Eschborn.
