Germany infection rate: The number of new crown infections registered in Germany reached a new high, with 16,774 new cases within a day.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported the balance sheet on Thursday morning (14,964 the day before).
A total of 481,013 people in Germany have been infected with coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic. The number of virus-related deaths increased by 89 in a single day, to a total of 10,272.
RKI estimates that the number of those who healed is about 339,200. According to Wednesday’s report, the reproduction rate, or R value in short, was 1.03 in Germany. This means that an infected person infects a little more than another person.The R value describes the rate of infection about a week and a half before.
Last night, Chancellor Angela Merkel announced that Germany is entering a “lockdown light”, a partial closure, between November 2 – 30. All restaurants will be closed and private contacts will be reduced “to an absolutely necessary level”.
No more than ten people can meet in public, with a maximum of two households allowed to meet.
Sightseeing is prohibited, exceptions are made only for absolute necessities, such as business trips.
Theatres, cinemas, swimming pools, fitness rooms and other cultural or leisure facilities are also affected by the partial blockade.
Professional sports events, such as football matches, will take place without spectators, amateur sports are no longer allowed at all – except for sports played individually, in pairs or in your own household.
Recreational events are prohibited.
Day centres, schools and shops are not closed yet. “We will do everything we can to keep schools and kindergartens open,” Merkel said.
Most of the economy must also be sustained, the finance minister announced compensation for all companies affected by the closure.
