Coronavirus threats have forced Ugandan Embassy in Berlin to close its doors to the public until 1st of April 2020. Ugandans join the other Africans in Germany whose Embassies have been closed down to curb the spread of the virus.
This does not mean, however, that the Embassy cannot be reached since its phone lines are still operational. The action was taken to protect staff and the public from infection from coronavirus.
“The Uganda Embassy in Berlin will remain closed to the general public from 17th March to 1st April 2020 due to the increasing proliferation of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID19) in the interest of public health and safety,” the Embassy said in a statement.

Meanwhile Uganda’s Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has said they have taken precautionary measures to ensure that the deadly virus doesn’t get into the African country. She also announced that Uganda had cancelled all international conferences that were scheduled to take place in the country over the coronavirus outbreak.
To reduce the risk of importation of the COVID-19, the Ministry of Health is screening of all passengers entering through Entebbe International Airport and other border points of entry which include; Busia, Malaba, Cyanika and Egeru.
All travellers coming to Uganda from the COVID-19 affected countries are required to undergo mandatory self-quarantine for 14 days.
