Jamal Musiala transfer news. African footballers.. Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala is reportedly pushing for a release clause in his new contract to allow a potential future move, as negotiations with the club continue.

Musiala, now 21, has become one of Europe’s top attacking talents. However, with just 18 months remaining on the five-year deal he signed in 2021, there’s growing concern among Bayern fans about his future. Manchester City has been linked with the German international, adding to the uncertainty.

According to reports, Bayern and Musiala have agreed on a satisfactory salary for the new contract. The midfielder isn’t demanding to be the highest-paid player at the club. The sticking point, however, is over the inclusion of a release clause. Bayern is firmly opposed to such clauses, preferring full control over the futures of their players. No current squad members are believed to have release clauses in their contracts.

Musiala, on the other hand, is reportedly asking for a €175m release clause. While not a deal breaker, he views it as more important if he’s signing a five-year contract rather than a shorter four-year deal. He believes a longer contract should include a clause that aligns with its terms.

The requested release clause, though substantial, isn’t as restrictive as the €1bn clauses seen in Real Madrid and Barcelona contracts. For Manchester City, who need to rebuild their squad for the future, triggering a €175m clause for a player like Musiala could make sense. He has the potential to be the centerpiece of their team for years to come.

If such a clause were included and activated, it would allow City to bypass Bayern entirely, making Musiala’s transfer a club record but still far below Neymar’s €222m move to PSG in 2017.

Musiala’s ties to England, where he lived and played between the ages of seven and 16, make a return to the Premier League a realistic possibility if Bayern and the player fail to reach an agreement.
