Investigation Underway After Fatal Shooting at Police Station in Northern Hesse

Germany police station shooting. A woman fired shots at a police station this morning around 6:00 in Schwalmstadt, northern Hesse. The 20-year-old, already known to the police, pulled out a pistol and shot at officers. The police returned fire, and her injuries were so severe that, despite receiving first aid, she died in the ambulance shortly after.

The Hesse State Criminal Police Office (HLKA) is now leading the investigation. They are still looking into what happened and why. The police station is currently closed, according to BILD.

A spokesperson for the Marburg prosecutor’s office stated that no officers were injured during the shooting. An autopsy for the 20-year-old woman is scheduled for Thursday. The spokesperson added, “The investigation is ongoing,” but did not share any further details at this time.

In September, a 29-year-old man in Linz am Rhein (Rhineland-Palatinate) attacked police officers with a machete while shouting “Allahu Akbar.”
