Enjoy Direct Travel: Daily Trains Connecting Berlin and Paris

Direct Train from Berlin to Paris. News. Direct train connections between Berlin and Paris are not new. In the late 19th century, the famous Nord-Express linked the two capitals, providing passengers with luxury journeys. This route was brought back after World War I and ran with breaks until the end of World War II, after which the direct service was stopped.

Now, nearly 80 years later, Deutsche Bahn is introducing a daily train from Berlin to Paris without the need to change trains, following the growing trend of train travel in Europe. This new connection will not only make travel times shorter but also support sustainable development by offering an eco-friendly option compared to flying. What else did the rail company announce?

The new route, which spans 878 kilometers, will use high-speed trains and aims to be one of the fastest travel options between Berlin and Paris. This will be the first daily connection between the two cities in decades, part of the European high-speed rail network. Deutsche Bahn will operate the route in cooperation with the French SNCF, as reported by German media.

Both companies have been working together on international rail connections for many years. Since 2007, passengers have been able to take high-speed ICE and TGV trains on the Frankfurt-Paris and Stuttgart-Paris routes, which allow travel between these cities in just over three hours. In 2012, they added the Frankfurt-Marseille route, and starting in 2023, they introduced Saturday services between Frankfurt and Bordeaux.

Additionally, a night train connection between Berlin and Paris, run by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), has been available since December 2023. This train operates three times a week, with plans for daily connections starting in late 2024. ÖBB has reported high interest in this service, indicating a growing demand for comfortable and eco-friendly train travel.

The direct Berlin-Paris route, set to return in December 2024, is a significant step toward improving international rail connections in Europe. With high-speed rail, traveling between the two capitals will become more convenient and environmentally friendly, aligning with modern public transport standards.
