Minijob in Germany 2022: The impact of raising the minimum wage

The remuneration for work in the Minijob may not exceed the monthly amount provided by law. Like this year, in 2022, the remuneration for working on the Minijob cannot exceed 450 euros per month. Please note that part-time employees in Germany are also included in the minimum wage (Mindestlohn).

As of January 1, 2022, the minimum wage is 9.82 euros per hour.

Minijob in Germany 2022: Feedback on short-term employment

From January 1, 2022, after the registration of an employee, employed as a mini-job worker, employers will receive feedback from the employment office. They will find out if the employee has already started short-term work in the same calendar year.

These pre-employment periods are important for employers, as short-term employment can be a maximum of 3 months or 70 working days per year.

Minijob in Germany 2022: Obligation to report Steuer-ID code

Another important innovation with Minijob in 2022: As of January 1, the employer must provide the office service not only the tax number (Steuernummer) to the employee, but also the tax identification number (Steueridentifikationsnummer).

All German residents, both citizens and expats, receive a unique number that is valid for life. Tax identifier known as Steueridentifikationsnummer, Steuerliche Identifikationsnummer, Steuer-IdNr., IdNr. Or Steuer-ID) consists of 11 numbers in the format 00 000 000 000.
