Victor Osimhen transfer update. African footballers. Newcastle United is among several clubs keeping an eye on Victor Osimhen, with Napoli reportedly ready to sell the Nigerian striker this summer.

The 26-year-old forward has been one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers and is expected to move on after his loan spell at Galatasaray ends. Osimhen has been in top form in Turkey, scoring 17 goals in 22 games, and could match his career-best tally of 31 goals from the 2022/23 season.

Several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal, and Newcastle, are monitoring the situation, while clubs from Saudi Arabia have also shown interest. Arsenal, in particular, has been long-time admirers of Osimhen, having tried to sign him in 2016 after his standout performances at the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Newcastle’s pursuit of Osimhen could have a domino effect in the transfer market. If they secure his signature, it could open the door for Alexander Isak to leave St James’ Park. The Swedish striker, who has been in excellent form with 19 goals in 27 games, is a top target for Arsenal, but Newcastle’s €175 million valuation may be a major obstacle.

Last summer, Newcastle was approached about signing Osimhen but backed out due to his €132 million price tag. However, with his release clause now lowered to around €70 million, interest from Premier League clubs has surged again.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle is seriously considering a move for Osimhen. While there’s no confirmation that he would replace Isak, his arrival would give Eddie Howe a strong attacking option if the Swede departs.

During his time at Napoli, Osimhen earned over €235,000 per week, but his salary reportedly dropped to €130,000 at Galatasaray. While the Turkish club wants to keep him, financial issues could make a permanent deal difficult.

With Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea also scouting him, the battle for Osimhen’s signature is expected to heat up as the summer transfer window approaches.
