Equatorial Guinea’s captain, Emilio Nsue, etched his name into AFCON history by securing a milestone hat-trick during the Nzalang Nacional’s 4-2 victory over Guinea Bissau.
Nsue’s goal-scoring spree commenced in the first half of the match, setting the stage for Equatorial Guinea’s dominance with a goal in the 21st minute. Playing for Alicante-based Intercity in the Spanish third tier has evidently not hindered Nsue’s performance, as he displayed exceptional quality to score two more goals within the initial 15 minutes of the second half, completing a remarkable hat-trick.
With his three strikes against Guinea Bissau, Emilio Nsue accomplished a remarkable feat by securing the first hat-trick in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) since 2008 when Soufiane Alloudi scored a treble against Namibia.
