People in Germany to receive relief assistance due to pandemic effects

The government in Germany have decided to increase the state budget for benefits by and additional 3 Billion to help people in Germany survive the coronavirus crisis. People employed in short-time work, people working in the care of the elderly, unemployed people and all those who had stopped working to take care of the immediate family members.

Here’s how much money you will receive as a social benefits

Kurzarbeitergeld increase, i.e. benefit for employees reported to the shortened work program

German entrepreneurs receive compensation from the state for part of their employees who work shorter hours because of the reduction in the number of jobs. This system protects companies against bankruptcy and guarantees payment of wages to employees. Until now, compensation from the state for employees who, due to the crisis, had their working time reduced to 60% of net wages lost. If an employee has one or more children, he / she receives 67% of the net wage lost. Thanks to the increase approved on Thursday by the Bundestag, the payment of benefits will be raised to 70% in the fourth month. or for people with children 77% last net pay. Employees who will be working short-term for more than 7 months will receive a benefit of 80 and 87 percent. Net pay.

Supplement for employees in the care of the elderly

One billion from the pool of three additional billion euros earmarked for the fight against coronavirus will be allocated to the payment of a salary supplement for people employed in caring for the elderly. Caregivers will receive a special bonus of up to 1000 euros.

Extra money for the unemployed

Persons who are unemployed and whose entitlement to unemployment benefit expires between May 1st and December 31st this year, will receive a benefit for an additional 3 months.

Extra caring

Care allowance has been extended from 10 to 20 days. It is given to people who have stopped going to work because of the need to take care of children or other immediate family members in need of care.
