From January 2021, the Kindergeld child benefit and the Kinderfreibetrag child tax free amount will increase. Check how much!
Kindergeld and Kinderfreibetrag to increase from January 2021: The Kindergeld child benefit will increase by € 15 per child from January 1, 2021, while the tax-free amount for having children, i.e. Kinderfreibetrag, will increase by € 570.

The federal government will donate 12 billion euros to families in the coming year for family allowance in Germany. Kindergeld rates in 2021 will be:
- for the first and second child – EUR 219 each,
- for the third child – 225 euro,
- for the fourth and each subsequent child – 250 euro.
In July 2019, the allowance for the first and second child increased by EUR 10 to EUR 204, for the third child EUR 210 is paid and for each subsequent child EUR 235 per month.

The Kinderfreibetrag, i.e. the tax-free amount for having children, will be increased from January 2021 from EUR 7,812 to EUR 8,388.
