A Namibian man named Adolf Hitler Uunona ,54, has been sworn in as district administrator on Nambia’s constitution.
Previously, he had won 84.88 percent of the votes in the regional elections in the Ompundja district in the Oshana region (in northern Namibia). An overwhelming success against the trend! The Swapo lost the majority in these elections in several regions and cities.
Build talked to the man behind the name to understand how it is that he acquired his name.
“That I have this name doesn’t mean that I want to subjugate Oshana now,” he says and laughs. “It doesn’t mean that I’m striving for world domination.” Then he gets serious. “My father named me after this man. He probably didn’t understand what Adolf Hitler stood for. “
The Namibian named Adolf Hitler says the name was completely normal for his growing up until he came to learn of the misdeeds of the owner of his name. But he does not relate to this man in any shape or form.
His wife calls him Adolf, he himself usually appears in public as Adolf Uunona, leaving out “Hitler”. He couldn’t change the name. “It’s in all official documents. It’s too late for that.
