Top Nollywood beauties to watch out for in 2021

Nigeria is no doubt home to vibrant and glamorous movie industry – the Nollywood, with stars winning our hears with their amazing talents and beauty. Nollywood is definitely a force to reckon with. As 2021 kicks off, let’s have a look at top actresses to look out for this year in this a list prepared by Vanguard.

SHARON OOJA

The 29-year-old Mass communication graduate first came into the limelight after playing the role of Shalewa in the web “Skinny Girl in Transit”. She further gained popularity in 2018 for her role in “King of Boys” as Amaka.

Sharon Ooja however cemented her place in the Nollywood industry after playing the lead role in Netflix’s 2020 movie “Oloture”. She starred in other blockbusters including “Lara and the Beat”, “Bling Lagosians”, “Coming from Insanity”, “Who’s the Boss”, “Moms at War”, among others.

IDIA AISIEN

The 29-year-old actress, TV presenter and model Idia Aisien is taking movie Nollywood industry by storm. She is a graduate of Journalism from American University and M.Sc. holder in International Public Relations and Global Corporate Communications from New York University.

Idia Aisien made her debut in 2020 as lead actor in PlayNetwork’s remake of Nollywood classic “Nneka The Pretty Serpent”. After receiving widespread praises from fans and critics for her performance, she is destined for more greater roles.

TEMI OTEDOLA

Daughter of billionaire businessman and renewed philanthropist, Femi Otedola, the 24-year-old made her Nollywood debut in 2020 with Kunle Afolayan’s Netflix, “Citation”.

Social media was filled with eager fans to see her performance as the lead character, Moremi. The actress currently is bagging awards with her recently announcing on Twitter to have won the Best Actress for her role in the Ghana Movie.

SOPHIE ALAKIJA

The beautiful actress does not rest when it comes to her career in the movie industry. In 2010 she featured in a music video of her ex-boyfriend Wizkid titled “Holla at your Boy”. She went on to act in several popular movies including “Drawing Strands”, “Getting over Him”, “Small Chops”.

Sophie Alakija is better known for her role in Red TV’s “Assistant Madams” starring alongside Osas Ighodalo and Tana Adelana. She is on a roll with an appearance in “Skinny Girl in Transit” TV series, and currently has a new web series “Grow Up or Nuts” on YouTube.

INI DIMA-OKOJIE

The 2021 is the start of a great year for the goddess who recently had fibroid surgery. Ini Dima-Okojie is a graduate of the New York Film Academy. She left her job in the finance industry to pursue a career in entertainment.

Ini Dima-Okojie played lead role in Nollywood-Bollywood rom-com “Namaste Wahala” which is expected to be released worldwide on Netflix on Valentine’s Day.

She came into limelight after her role as Hadiza, in the movie “North East” seeing her climbing to the top as film and TV’s IT Girl.

TV series she has featured in include “Battleground”, “Desperate Housewives Africa”, “Skinny Girl in Transit”, among others. She has also starred in EbonyLife romantic comedy “Royale Hibiscus”.

OMOWUNMI DADA

Award-winning actress, model and voice-over artiste, Omowunmi Dada has been on a steady rise to fame with her 2012 appearance in “The Gods Are Still Not To Blame”. She has since taken up more diverse roles.

Omowunmi Dada is a University of Lagos graduate of Creative Arts, earning more praise in 2020 after the movies “Oloture” and “Diamonds in the Sky” appearing on Netflix.

She has starred in films like “The Antique”, “Omugwo”, “Tinsel”, “So Wrong So Wright”, and featured in the new Ndani TV web-series, “Game-on”.

ERICA NLEWEDIM

She began her acting career in 2015 with lead role in “Secrets and Scandals”, and since has become one of Nollywood’s fast rising stars.

Being a model she has graced a number of billboards nationwide, modelling top brands and has starred in various movies including “Hire a Woman”, “Poka Messaih”, “The Flatmates”, etc.

Erica Nlewedim rose to fame as one of the housemates in the popular Big Brother Naija show ‘Lockdown’ edition. She became a fan favourite with her enchanting signature smile, and no doubt to grace our screens this year.

ELMA MBADIWE

Elma Mbadiwe is a budding actress, who plays Talullah in African Magic’s “Unbroken”.

She attracts a significant amount of attention from her fans for her role as Tallulah who is involved in a love triangle on the show.

Elma became very popular from Ndani TV’s “Phases”. The year 2020 was Elma Mbadiwe’s year as she appeared in two major blockbusters, “Rattle Snake: The Ahanna Story” and “Quam’s Money”.
