Napoli Lowers Victor Osimhen’s Buyout Clause: What It Means

Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen transfer news. African footballers. Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Turkish champions Galatasaray, has agreed to extend his contract with Napoli until 2027. According to reports from RAI Sport, Napoli has now reduced Osimhen’s buyout clause, which was originally set at 130 million euros. With the contract extension, the new buyout fee for Osimhen is now 90 million euros for clubs looking to sign him in January. However, if a transfer happens next summer, the fee will further drop to 75 million euros.

Last summer, several clubs were interested in acquiring Osimhen but were deterred by Napoli’s refusal to lower their asking price of 130 million euros. Notable clubs like PSG and Chelsea dropped their bids due to this high fee. Even a late attempt by Saudi Arabia’s Pro League club, Al-Ahli, to lure Osimhen to the Middle East failed, as the Nigerian striker appears intent on remaining in European football for now.

As of recent reports, Osimhen has drawn interest from clubs like Juventus in Serie A and Chelsea in the Premier League. The reduced buyout price could potentially make these clubs more eager to secure his signature in the upcoming transfer windows.

Meanwhile, observers are closely monitoring Osimhen’s current situation at Galatasaray, particularly due to his recent hamstring injury sustained during a Turkish Lig match against Kasimpasa. The injury forced him to sit out the second half of that game, which ended in a 3-3 draw. Turkish media outlet Fanatik reported that Galatasaray has decided not to risk Osimhen for their UEFA Europa League match against Rigas FS. However, the hope is that he will return to action for their upcoming league clash against Alanyaspor.

Despite the injury, Osimhen has had a strong start with Galatasaray, contributing two goals and four assists in the four matches he has played for the team, which is currently leading the Turkish Super Lig.
