Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie nominated for Igbo Women Awards

Award winning author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is one of the women to be recognized at the Igbo Women Awards gala dinner in London.

The newly launched awards recognize outstanding Igbo women worldwide for their great achievements and work in different fields.

Igbos are predominantly found in the south eastern region of Nigeria.

“Igbo women are known for their strength and resilience. They have continued to excel in all areas of life. Focus, drive, determination, ambition, passion, talent, are just some of the characteristics that are embedded in these women we have chosen to honour in a celebratory way,” says media personality Nena Ubani, the Founder of the Igbo Women Awards. “An Igbo woman is strong, courageous and industrious.”

Ngozi Thompson, Chika Ike, Rachel Okonkwo, Chizzy Akudolu, Queen Nwokoye, Splash, Stormrex, Shiikane, Rebecca Omordia, Amazin Ijeoma, Sofiyah, Ezinne Okparaebo, Chichi Okafor, Remel Okeke-Wickham, are some of the Igbo celebrities who have been nominated.

The awards gala dinner will be held in London on 8th October 2016.
