Nigerian footballer Chidera Ejuke signs with Hertha Berlin

Africans in Germany. African footballers. Nigerian forward Chidera Ejuke, confirms he’s making a move to Hertha Berlin from Russian club CSKA Moscow.

Hertha Berlin made the announcement on Wednesday on their official website, confirming the Super Eagles star will play for the Blue–Whites this coming season.

The 24-year-old took advantage of the FIFA rule permitting foreign players in Russia to leave the country and suspended his four year contract with the Russian club. He officially signed a one year deal with the German capital side, estimated to run through the 2022/23 season.

During his two year spell with the 13-time Russia champions, Ejuke made 55 appearances scoring 10 goals and 5 assists.

Hertha Berlin’s sporting Director Fredi Bobic believes the Nigerian’s skill and knowledge of European leagues will be an asset to the Grman side.

“Chidera Ejuke has proved himself in several European leagues already, and brings good skills alongside speed and versatility. We’re sure that he’ll improve our game with his abilities.”

Chidera Ejuke expressed his happiness and optimism at joining the Bobic-led team, pledging to help the team achieve their goals this season.

“I’m looking forward to Hertha, to the Bundesliga and this special challenge,” the player himself remarked in a statement accompanying the signing, “I want to do my part to help the club achieve its goals.”
