African Community Awards: African Community in Germany Awards 2022. Nyima Jadama has been nominated for the Best African TV Personality in Germany Award at the AFRONEWS – Ortel Mobile African Community in Germany Awards 2022.

Who is Nyima Jadama?

Nyima Jadama is a relentless, determined and passionate media and journalism personality. She has dedicated her life to helping and informing the society especially the vulnerable (refugees and migrants).

Since her exile in Germany in 2015, she has been volunteering as a moderator and media trainer. She started at the Radio Dreeckland in Freiburg, where she volunteered in a project called ‘Our Voice’ training refugees and migrants to tell their own stories through radio in Berlin.

During and after her apprentice (Ausbuildung/ Volontariat) in ‘Cross media communication’, she contributed to various media houses writing, reporting and working especially on migration and women empowerment stories.

In August 2020 she was awarded three months Fellowship from the European Centre for Media and Press Freedom (ECMPF) to start her own project/talk show- ‘Nyimas Bantaba Talk Show with Alex Berlin Offener Kanal.

Nyimas Bantaba focuses on migration, women empowerment and culture, giving a space to experts and ordinary people to discuss on topics mainly not discussed / reported by the mainstream media.

The talk show broadcast once a month is a safe space for the vulnerable, women empowerment and the migration politics.

Last April she also founded a media competence project (Bantaba Akademie) for migrants and refugees. The project aims to empower and train migrants and refugees on media and journalism topics. Workshops held twice a month also pave ways for participants to further their journalistic careers or start a career in Media through fellowships, Internship and mentoring programmes as they partner with various media organisations and foundations.

Nyima Jadama also works partly with Partnerschaften für Demokratie Leben Berlin Brandenburg as Project coordinator and media specialist.

Nyimas Bantaba Talk Show is currently working on a Podcast project with Alex Berlin Radio and Online starting in September 2022.

Nyima Jadama’s journalism works have been recognised/awarded by various media institutions in The Gambia and Europe, including a certificate of appreciation by the Young Journalists Association of The Gambia, SEZ International Exchange for Women Journalist, Community Media Forum Europe (CMFE) as board member, etc.

Last year she was recognised amongst the most outstanding African men and women during the pandemic by the African Women in Europe. She also hosts a weekly webinar interviewing various African women in Business across the Globe.

All winners will be announced and recognised at the African Community in Germany Awards Gala Night to be held on 22nd October 2022 from 5:30 PM at Bürgerzentrum Niederhöchstadt, Montgeronplatz 1, 65760 Eschborn.
